Adam Woodhall - Master of Ceremonies 2018

Visit the Keynote Speaker Theatre, with Inspiring-Sustainability company’s advisor, activator and author Adam Woodhall.

Adam has worked with large organisations, entrepreneurial enterprises and great consultancies and has collaborated with more than 80 clients. As an advisor he has utilised his 20 years of commercial and people development experience, the last 10 of which has been in sustainability, and his communication, connection, and change knowledge and skills, has made recommendations focused on realising exceptional outcomes.

As an activator, Adam aims to create the special alchemy which inspires and generates transformational action and, as an Author, in 2015 he had his first book published; the Empower Change guide. Then, in early 2016, he became a frequent contributor to Ethical Performance magazine. And, bang up to date, in 2018 Adam plans to release a second book, provisionally titled “Action or Belief”.


Keith Freegard - Vice President, British Plastics Federation

We are delighted to welcome the Vice-Chairman of the British Plastics Federation, Recycling Group, Keith Freegard to our Keynote Speaker Theatre for the first time in 2018. Keith conducted four interviews on the subject of China banning plastics imports for the BBC as they news hit, including BBC World, BBC 1 O’Clock, BBC news and BBC radio three counties.

Keith has held respected senior positions in the British Plastics Federation and Non-Exec for OPRL packaging label organisation. He has a demonstrated history of working in the materials resource recovery industry and is a strong sales professional skilled in Sustainability, Plastics, Metals, Environmental Awareness, and Renewable Resources. Keith also has also successfully worked with start-ups of new businesses in packaging and recycling sector.

Martin Baxter, Chief Policy Advisor at IEMA

We are really pleased to announce that the Chief Policy Advisor at Institute of Environmental Management Association - IEMA, Martin Baxter, will once again be returning to the Keynote Theatre stage in October. Martin is a popular visitor to the theatre and is sure to come armed with the very latest in what is happening in the sector. Martin is a highly competent and experienced environment and sustainability executive with excellent leadership and communication skills. He is also a strategic thinker with the capability to lead and influence. He has National and international experience in developing and negotiating global and European standards, and developing capacity for effective and widespread implementation.

IEMA is the global alliance of environment and sustainability professionals and they work to make businesses and organisations future-proof. Carl is deeply knowledgeable on all things Automotive following a long career in the sector within BMW Group and as a result of his current business consultancy work. He’s known for being a highly experienced team-builder, consultant and coach, used to working across organisations from board level to shop floor within a multitude of sectors supporting and encouraging change based on his real-life experiences. Between 2013 – 2016 he had the challenge of delivering BMW’s electric car brand (BMW i) into the UK in a market traditionally obsessed with engine size and BHP – this challenge really was about winning hearts and minds of some of the most sceptical people you can ever imagine! Carl will be presenting the inside story on the seismic change that is currently underway within the Auto Industry and what it means to you.


Charles Joly
Head of Corporate Sustainability & Responsibility - Bank of England

Charles is a senior Sustainability and CSR expert with ten years’ experience improving social, environmental, and reputational performance for organisations across a range of sectors. Charles started his career as an environmental consultant in Scotland, providing advice and support to public and private sector clients. He progressed to in-house roles, first with the University of Portsmouth, followed by the National Health Service on the Isle of Wight, delivering award-winning sustainability initiatives and programmes. Charles joined the Bank of England in 2016, to support the Bank’s commitment and approach to corporate responsibility. Charles is passionate about environmental issues and developed the Bank’s corporate environmental programme, ‘Greener Bank’. Charles is driven by a desire to deliver cultural change in complex organisations which embeds CSR at the core of the business, increases employee engagement, and creates meaningful positive impacts.

Ecotricity have been leaders in the green energy world since they turned on their first windmill in 1996. Paul will be chatting about what makes Ecotricity so unique and truly ‘dark green’ compared to other ‘light green’ energy companies.

Paul Sands is Growth Director for Ecotricity, Britain’s greenest energy provider, where his responsibilities include bringing in new domestic and business customers, brand communications, and other group activity such as Ecotalk, the green mobile phone service. Prior to this role, Paul held senior Marketing and Customer Experience roles for Bang and Olufsen, Barclays and Virgin Atlantic in the UK, Japan and Hong Kong. He holds a PhD in sustainable innovation and an MBA with distinction. He lives in Brighton with his wife Chie.


Kirsten Jack is Corporate Business Manager and Head of Scope for leading recycling and waste giant, SUEZ recycling and recovery UK. She is a sustainable business entrepreneur with strengths in sales, business growth, strategy, innovation, communications, people management and development and social research.

Mr Wayne Sharpe is the Founder and CEO of Global Environmental Markets Group (GEM) and its subsidiary Carbon Trade Exchange (CTX), both financial technology companies which promote sustainable management of resources by delivering evolutionary exchange and trading platforms for environmental, commodity and financial markets, including the world’s largest voluntary carbon offsets platform. In 1991, Mr Sharpe founded Bartercard, the world’s first global alternate currency exchange, now listed on ASX as a subsidiary of BPS Technology (BPS:ASX). A visionary leader with extraordinary talent at deal-making, Mr Sharpe has immense proven belief in world class corporate governance and is absolutely focussed on revenues, profits and growth.

David Overton is a Chemical Engineer by discipline with 16 years of working on business development and innovation at Johnson Matthey and, latterly, with Ordnance Survey as their Innovation Manager. His dream of SplashMaps was born of his many travels on a bike, on foot and overland when it was clear that a practical map unlocked the bigger adventures. With SplashMaps, he wanted to steal the amazingly practical military idea of printing escape and evasion maps on fabric and place it into the consumer space - here he shares his journey.

Leon Lindblad founded CFA Trading Ltd in 2004 as a specialised and unique refurbisher of IT equipment. Today they are the number one IT refurbisher in Europe and the lowest carbon producing refurbisher in the world. their team carries out all refurbishments in-house; reprinting keyboards, repairing screens and respraying PC’s and laptops. They also use Aiken Workbench to fully audit and test the equipment. In 2013 CFA became MAR (Microsoft Approved Refurbisher) and are now recognised by Microsoft for their work in this sector. CFA is proud to be an environmentally responsible and circular economy company. Leon will also introduce his ambitious plan to build an Eco Trading Estate on the site of his business in Poole in Dorset.
